First-Time Umrah Guide 2026: Step by Step

1. Before you go — prepare

2. Enter Ihram
Before crossing the meeqat (boundary), perform ghusl, wear ihram (two white unstitched cloths for men; modest clothing for women), make the intention for Umrah, and begin reciting the Talbiyah: "Labbayk Allahumma labbayk…". While in ihram, avoid prohibited acts (perfume, cutting hair/nails, arguing).
3. Tawaf — circling the Kaaba
On reaching Masjid al-Haram, perform Tawaf: seven circuits around the Kaaba starting from the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad), making dua throughout. After completing seven rounds, pray two rakahs near Maqam Ibrahim if possible, then drink Zamzam water.
4. Sa'i — between Safa and Marwah
